I found a baby hummingbird on the ground and would like to try and save it. Anyone have suggestions?
The bird appears to have fallen from a nest. I have it wrapped in toilet paper and have been feeding it sugar water (its drinking a lot). It has a lot of feathers, but is still missing some. Is there anything else I can do for it?

Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.

Hold on to every thing take it to a wiiled life center or animal if you leave near newark I kno a great place i went to it today to give them a baby starling that was injured…..If u want the adress email me! DO not take it to the vet they do not help with wld animals
You may want ask a vet but if you keep giving it sugar water chances are it’l be fine, but a wild life center would probably know how to care for him or her. You may wanna keep the bird in a shoebox under a desk lamp for warmth.
Hope all goes well for you!
Yes – contact your local wildlife rehabilitation center and see what they advise. It’s against the law (Migratory Bird Treaty Act) to keep the bird.

Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center. You can find one here:

It is illegal for you to keep any native wild bird in the US, no matter how good your intentions. Also, hummers are very difficult to save. You need to get it to someone who has the training.
I would suggest calling a vet, and asking his/her opinion. That’s probably the safest thing to do, and you have the best chance of saving it.
A+ for your efforts to save an animal.:-)
call a local wildlife center so they can properly care for it
Quickly make some sugar water, and in a little cup, hold it up to the bird so that the end of its beak is in the water. It will drink it and give it energy, and if its not too late, it should be able to take off! Good luck!
Call a vet or a local bird rescue center. Sounds like you are doing the right thing if it is eating, but you don’t want it to get dependent on you.
