Baby Hummingbird found….?

Posted by Filed Under hummingbird with 3 Comments

I was cutting down some branches when i heard a peeping noise coming from the branches i cut down and found a baby hummingbird…it wasnt too young because it had a good amount of feathers. I wanted to put it back in the tree, but the nest was broken and was full of mites and so was the baby. The nest by itself would have fallen down becasue it was so unstable…so i put the baby and its nest in a shoebox and put it back in the tree..i saw the parents flying around and i went inside…i checked went outside again an hour later and i didnt hear him crying anymore….do you think he is ok now or should i take him to a rescue???

I found a hummingbird. help me!!!?

Me and my boyfriend found him during a fight.
Apparently they are "messangers of love" and taking care of him kinda brought us together.
We names him Predator and hes very trusting…

Unfortunatly, now it needs me.
It doesn’t appear to be a baby because hes big but it doesnt have feathers on his stomach and he looks like hee may be missing a feather on his tail but I cant tell.

He trusts me enough to hold him and feed him, he doesnt struggle and he licks the "hummin bird food" sugar water right off my fingers (which i wash very well before feeding). He chirps when he’s hungry and I feed him (and he stops) , I need to know if this is all he needs ? Hes chirping right now and he keeps opening his mouth like he wants something more than nector? Does he need bugs?

Also I would like to know why he cant fly… He tries really hard and can hover slightly but just falls.

Luckily he seems to trust me. Dont tell me to find someone else to take care of him… tell me what I can do now…

Please help me.

RatDog – go kill yourself.

To the rest…

I dont care enough about it to take it to a place. Im staying home alone for the week and dont have my car. Nobody wants to drive me to a bird protection place my friends would just tell me to get it high. So I cannot do anything about it.

Trust me I dont want the bird… I have to wake up in the middle of the night to "chirp chirp feed me!!!" and I cant even go out without bringing it.. I left it for an hour today and I came home and it had tried to fly and crashed and gotten stuck. So lay off unless you have good advice.

Like I said my boyfriend and I found it on the ground in my yard.

Whoever gave me that formula thank you. Im going to definatly try that this minute – best answer for u

thankyou to the person who told me sugar water for too long will kill it.

When I found it, it couldnt fly.

If he dies he dies.. he would have died faster if I hadnt had picked it up cuz my dog would have devoured it

so help

One of my favorite nature vids I’ve done! It was so awesome being able to earn the hummingbird’s trust! It took nearly an hour before they got used to my presence, and after that they would come within inches of me! Hope you enjoy, and thanks for watching!

Help! Injured Hummingbird!?

Posted by Filed Under Hummingbird Bird Feeder with 4 Comments

So the nieghborhood cat got a hold of a baby humming bird!!!! I placed him in a little box with twigs, and moss on the bottom, and fed him some sugar water. I don’t think anything is broken, but he can’t fly. After a while of eating the water, he got kinda spaztic, and tried to fly.

I noticed some of his feathers under one of his wings is missing. I read on the internet that a hummingbird can survive about 4 hours with out food, but anylonger and he’ll die.

I don’t know what to do. I called my local animal shelter and they basically said to put him outside (in the cold mind you) and if he was there in the morning bring him in, and they could see what they could do. I asked her if they were going to kill him and she said, "Well if it looks like he won’t recover.." I don’t trust that…

I don’t know what to do!!!! HELP!!!!

The bird appears to have fallen from a nest. I have it wrapped in toilet paper and have been feeding it sugar water (its drinking a lot). It has a lot of feathers, but is still missing some. Is there anything else I can do for it?

In this installment we see several colorful summer species, including a male Allen’s and a male Black-Chinned, showing off his difficult-to-video purple neckband. These birds migrate into the area (Santa Clarita, California) in April/May where they nest and breed over the summer. As temperatures rise, natural nectar sources become mroe scarce and the hummingbird feeders become eagerly sought-after resources. Oddly, many feeders sit idle most of the time as these aggressive little birds vigorously hoard the feeder and spend more time chasing away other birds than feeding! “Why can’t we all just… get along?” (Jack Nicholson, Mars Attacks) :-) The soundtrack is “Oberion” from the Silicon Landscape CD by Technician, available at JCMDI.COM. Happy birding!
